Selling Your Home? These Upgrades Can Help To Keep Germ Transmission To A Minimum
When you’re selling your home, you’ll typically need to open up your property to real estate agents and potential buyers—but in the midst of COVID, that prospect can be stressful.
Luckily, there are ways you can significantly minimize your chances of getting exposed to any unwanted germs (or unknowingly exposing any buyers or agents).
A recent video from realtor.com outlined simple things you can do to help reduce the transmission of germs in your home, including:
Install touchless bathroom features. Installing touchless bathroom features is easy, fast, and affordable—and because they don’t need to be manually turned on or off, potential buyers or agents can experience the features (for example, by testing the water pressure of the faucet) without increasing the risk of germ transmission.
Add space heaters to your outdoor space. Some agents or buyers may want to discuss your property at length, either with you and your agent or amongst themselves—but having those conversations indoors, where there’s limited air flow, can increase the risk of germ transmission. Adding a few space heaters to your outdoor space will allow you and/or your potential buyers to comfortably have those conversations outdoors—even through the winter.
Invest in a sanitizing closet. If you’re worried that germs may have gotten on your clothing during a house tour (for example, if buyers used your coat closet and you’re concerned they may have touched your jackets), a sanitizing closet, which uses UV light to sanitize garments, could give you peace of mind.
