Millennials are known as a generation who knows what they want—and that includes certain layouts in their homes.
According to a recent survey from the National Association of Home Builders, there are certain home layout features that appeal to millennial buyers more than others. So what, exactly, are those layouts? The most popular home layouts for millennials include open floor plans (53 percent of millennials surveyed preferred a completely open layout in the kitchen and dining room while 43 percent wanted open layouts in both the family and dining rooms and the kitchen and family room), a two-story home (55 percent of millennials would prefer two stories—while only 35 percent would prefer a single story residence), and a full basement (37 percent).
What does that mean for you? If you want to appeal to millennial buyers, it’s important to understand what they’re looking for—and that includes these home layout features.
